About this Recipe

A major part of my consultancy work is to test commercial equipment so I can recommend the right kit for my clients. This bacon wrapped beef fillet recipe was my first time trying this Robata grill from Mibrasa, delivered by Ascentia FSE.  It is designed for traditional Yakitori (Japanese type of skewered chicken) cooking  but my first recipe was beef fillet to test its cooking capability (also my son’s girlfriend came to dinner and she loves her beef burgers – so I wanted to show her  what a beautifully fire cooked beef fillet tasted like!)
Ingredients

4 beef tenderloin steaks (approx 1 inch thick)

4 – 8 slices of smokey streaky bacon
16 fresh sage leaves
Salt and pepper for seasoning
Butchers string

Recipe Instructions

Wrap a strip of bacon around the circumference of the steaks, evenly spacing 4 sage leaves with each steak.
Tie with kitchen string.
Season the steaks with salt and pepper.

 

Cook each side for approx 2 minutes and then, using tongs, cook the sides wrapped in bacon until crispy.

Leave to rest for 3 minutes and then remove the string and serve.
